The Mars Hillbillies

Mars-Hillbillies_01web

The Mars Hillbillies’ great musicianship, polished harmonies, extensive repertoire, and unique sound make them one of Flagstaff’s favorite bluegrass bands. Besides bluegrass, they also perform original songs, and favorites written by the likes of Robert Earl Keen, Merle Haggard, Greg Brown and Fred Eaglesmith.

Formed in 2002 by Rusty Tweed (mandolin, vocals), the Mars Hillbillies also includes Bill Vernieu (guitar, vocals), Reno McCormick (fiddle, banjo, dobro, vocals) and Keith Gomora (acoustic bass, vocals).

All of the members sing lead and harmony vocals, and each brings his own unique interpretation of the definition of American roots music, making each MHB show at once traditional, progressive, dynamic, and just plain fun.
